Qualifications

Why should doctors' qualifications and nursing excellence be important to you?

The doctors who practice at OHH have dedicated their professional lives to caring for your heart and vascular system.  Their total focus on "heart" means your OHH physician has the most up-to-date information on the newest, most effective treatment for heart disease.  The OHH nurses who care for you and work with your physician are highly skilled nurses with special training to care for heart patients.  The low nurse-to-patient ratio means a nurse is never more than a few steps away from your bedside.

Physicians with a passion for patient care

With outstanding cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and anesthesiologists, Oklahoma Heart Hospital is widely recognized as one of the region’s top hospitals in cardiology.

Oklahoma Heart Hospital is home to Oklahoma Cardiovascular Associates (OCA), the state's largest group of cardiovascular specialists and surgeons. These physicians are on the leading edge of technology, developing important healthcare resources for this region. Each OCA physician is dedicated to providing excellence in cardiology services and open, genuine communications with every patient we serve.

Nursing excellence

A variety of factors contribute to the excellent nursing care our patients have come to expect at OHH.

  • Training

  • All Oklahoma Heart Hospital nurses have special training in heart and blood vessel diseases.  All nurses and respiratory therapists are required to be ACLS (advanced cardiac life support) certified; many hold CCRN (critical care registered nurse) credentials.
  • Optimum staffing

  • You receive personalized care unmatched anywhere. Four patients for each nurse is the maximum nurse to patient ratio. No nurse at OHH ever cares for more than four patients at once.
  • Continuity

  • The retention rate for OHH nurses is 98%.
  • Nurse/physician collaboration

  • Physicians are readily accessible to nursing staff, by design of the hospital and by the proximity of their practice.
  • Nursing experience

  • The average experience level for an OHH nurse is nine years.
