The Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) Center at Oklahoma Heart Hospital, led by Dr. John Kingrey, delivers health care with the highest standards of performance and outcomes for patients with known or suspected PH. We build personalized treatment plans for each patient that include modern medicines and therapies, access to physicians and members of the health care team, disease education, and ongoing research. Our primary aim is to empower patients with the ability to meet and overcome the challenges of living with PH. Our specially trained PH team provides the patient-focused health care environment essential to successful PH care.
What is Pulmonary Hypertension?
Pulmonary hypertension is elevated blood pressure inside the lungs. The arteries inside the lungs narrow and cause increased resistance of blood flow. When untreated, the high pressure can lead to enlargement and failure of the right side of the heart. The strain on the heart leads to the common symptoms of PH, which include shortness of breath, chest pain, palpitations, swelling of the legs and abdomen and extreme fatigue.
