There are many different things that can cause congestive heart failure, including congenital defects, infection, hypertension, diabetes, or damage from prior heart attacks. Sometimes the cause is unknown.

What to expect as a patient

Your first visit with one of our specialists will focus on your medical history and exploring the cause of your heart failure with the goal of developing a treatment plan. Our team of experts will support you in each step of that plan and educate you on ways to improve quality of life and manage the symptoms of heart failure.

Treatment plans can include everything from medication to biventricular pacemakers to monitoring devices such as the CardioMEMS system that detects fluid retention before symptoms may appear. In some cases, cutting-edge approaches can be used to restore the patient’s heart to normal function.

Patients at our Heart Failure Center have regular appointments to monitor their condition and make adjustments to help them better manage the progression of the disease.
