Dr. Weitzel has an interest in the prevention of both primary disease and progression of disease, especially in complex patients who are plagued with diffuse and highly stenotic lesions, occlusions, and sudden death. The most rewarding part of Dr. Weitzel’s job is the opportunity to save lives. “There is no feeling like that of seeing patients return to a life of enjoying their families, their friends, and rediscovering life on a whole new level,” he said. Having been a diabetic for over 30 years, Dr. Weitzel looks forward to advances in medicine and their implementation and has a particular interest in the connection between heart disease and diabetes.
