Your gift to the Oklahoma Heart Hospital Research Foundation helps us research new science, educate our caregivers and provide medical care to Oklahomans in need. Having the flexibility to put your gift to work in the area of the Foundation’s greatest need is most vital. Still, you may choose to designate your donation to one of the following areas of need:
Give to Research
Physicians and scientists at OHHRF work tirelessly to help unfold the mysteries of nature and disease through the participation in clinical studies of both pharmaceutical and device trials, with the ultimate goal of achieving FDA approval for patient use. Our research team is envisioning solutions that will ultimately lead to effective treatments to provide hope for heart disease patients, their families, physicians and other health care providers.
Major areas of research include the following:
- Coronary Heart Disease
- Heart Failure
- Cardiac Anomaly
- Cardiac Arrhythmia
- Investigator Initiated Research
Gifts to Research will provide the critical and necessary resources to grow our research efforts.
Give to Education
Committed to education, OHHRF offers educational service to specific sub-groups of medical providers. Oklahoma’s high rates of heart disease (top 3 in the USA consistently) create a strong need for education about cardiovascular disease among Physician Assistants (PA), Certified Nurse Practitioners (CNP) and Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS). To fill this need, OHHRF provides free, accredited Continuing Medical Education (CME) courses on heart disease topics to these practitioners in Oklahoma.
Additionally, the education component of OHHRF may soon feature symposia, conferences, publication of scientific and clinical findings, training materials and public outreach as a means of the Foundation’s educational thrust.
Gifts to Education will allow OHHRF to sustain its current array of programs and to introduce new programs.
Give to Serve the Community
Because every person should have access to health care, OHHRF, in partnership with the Mercy Health Network, provides for a free specialty medicine clinic for the uninsured in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Uninsured patients seen by the Health Alliance for the Uninsured that need specialty medical care can come to The Medical Clinic for the Uninsured to receive treatment from specialist physicians including cardiologists, nephrologists, pulmonologists, gastroenterologists and others.
This clinic is designed to compliment the services of the Health Alliance for the Uninsured, who provide generalist or Primary Care Physician services to the uninsured in the Oklahoma City area. Together, these entities work to provide a greater range of health care services to members of the local community in need.
